STUDENT PHONE-FREE SCHOOL POLICY
We recognize that the use of technology is a crucial part of preparing students for the future. However, the use of cell phone technology and social media apps during the school day are not necessary and have a negative impact on the overall culture at SNA. By encouraging our students to unplug during school hours, we are empowering them to fully immerse themselves in life at SNA, including their studies, extracurricular activities, and social interactions. While we recognize that we live in a technologically connected world, we stand behind growing research that the harm caused by the use of cell phones and social media in childhood far outweighs any benefits, especially in an academic setting. Intentionally unplugging from constant connection is an important and necessary skill in today’s world. Additionally, students need to understand the importance of when it is and is not appropriate to use cell phones and social media.
